Apparently there are no authors out there who can write a story that people would want to watch. They have to keep recycling older stuff. It's easier to just repackage a tale already told, but "Now! With Negros!, or Now, with faggots!", than it is to do something that has not been done before.

Most books are simply too long and dense to make them good candidates for converting them to film. A decent short or novella can be done, but there aren't a whole lot of those on the marketplace these days.
