I'll admit to watching my share of reaction videos on youtube. I really like Todd Rundgren as well. It all comes together for me in this video. You can FFW through the intro obviously.
the nazz was cool, todd was cool, seen him
Amazing song from an amazing album.
todd popped in and played with john cale.
hella show.
Sorry about all the CAPS in the title. I just copied/pasted to give proper credit to the creators of the video.
Looking at it now - and how it stands out, I should have removed all the caps. My bad.
I love his Utopia and Nazz days. He did a bunch of diverse stuff even going into Bosa Nova. Kind of like Neil Young did with all his experimental doo wop and electronic music back in the late 70 and early 80s. I haven’t listened to Todd in while, but he’s got great stuff. I’d say Ra is one of my favorites, but he’s got loads of awesome songs and load of total garbage. I think the last album I bought of his was The Individualist, which was just...weird and easily forgettable for the most part. I saw him solo in Tokyo with just him and a piano back around 2001. Fun little night club show where we were all sat at reserved dinner tables.
takes me back to high school. great stuff from Todd.
I thought “I Saw the Light” was Hank Williams.
“Todd is God” was a popular saying w/ the hot stoner girls back then.
Fun to see. I was a big fan for a long time, but never saw him live. While President Trump was in office, he made a statement which essentially said ‘I don’t want you as a fan if you like Trump’.
I haven’t played any of his stuff since. But if he hates me, I’ll ignore him.
no way, but hank was cool
yeah. some girls in the 60’s, 70’s completely lost their minds over the rockers. i guess that’s a big reason we all took up the guitar.
Go to youtube and look up Hank Williams, I Saw The Light. Yeah, like 1956
that song had a wholly different light. That song shined a Light on millions in the dark.
That song sounded a lot like a few Christopher Cross songs, except like ten years before him.

My record collection includes a 33rpm disc consisting of advertisements aimed at getting young people out to vote in the 1972 presidential election. In one of them, Rundgren announces that he will be running for president in 1984, the first year he will be eligible for a White House run (he was born in 1948).
Love Rundgren. A true American original. Could have been massive pop star had he “sold out” and just wrote “hits.” Instead he left an amazing legacy of music in so many genres. Also produced the incomparable “Bat Out of Hell,” on the title track of which his improvised solo was played in one take, and that is what we hear.
