Yarn-A-Palooza! Mom's friend gave me FIVE HUGE trash bags of the stuff. After sorting it by color and weight, I organized it the best that I could and came up with a way to store it in my office/craft shack. That was a two-day project! There is half a bag that's going to St. Vinnie's for their yarn sale this winter - mainly colors I'll never use, or those partial skeins of yarn with no matching friends. Most of it was Red Heart, and about 1/4 of it was 'I Love This Yarn' from Hobby Lobby. All quality, useful brands for the items I make for various charities. What a BLESSING! That is literally HUNDREDS of dollars of yarn, there! Two 'Pound of Love' skeins ($10 each!) from Lion Brand yarn in a gorgeous shade of lavender which will be perfect for blankets and Preemie caps. I laid out the color scheme for the first baby blanket...of many!

Wow! Ho ho ho & an early Merry Christmas to you! ILTY (Hobby Lobby) is one of my favorites & the RH yarn seems to get better & better .... Super Saver is almost if not somewhat ‘soft’ now. RH Soft is a good yarn too - I’ve used it in a couple of projects.

I’m sure you’ll make very good use of all that yarn, especially since you do a lot of charity crocheting.

Wow what a haul! People in Chicago who were neighbors of my mom for years gave her all their leftover yarn. She made blanket throws for the vets hospital, A few hundred at least.

I'm posting something pretty old, probably made in the 1960's by a woman who was in her 80's by then. She took in worn out or torn wool coats and made blankets out of them. We were fortunate enough that she gave us one over 44 years ago.

I like this idea so much and this summer asked for any scrap wool blankets, got 4. I am making something similar for our small town historical society, will donate it and the original. It is half done, and when togaeher I will crochet another edge around it. Not very pretty but scrap things are made for functionality.

My knees are so bad the thought of getting up and down off the floor to lay this thing out was not something I was looking forward to, so I took a picture of each of the 4 squares, and opened a power point, and made copies of each square to match the quantity, then fit them together so no two were alike horizontally or vertically. When I finished I just printed out a pattern. Took less than an hour, so easy.

Next is a crocheted Christmas blanket I found at a local high end thrift store. They told me that someone had made a few of these just for the store to sell. It is a very unusual pattern and I wanted to share it.

Winter is definitely a fiber one around here, or sewing. I have some other things going on but no pics yet. Wishing all a Merry Christmas in advance!
