5 ATVs surround a SUV while driving trying to open the passenger's door. Seems like a pretty bold move for a 450lb ATV vs a 4,000 - 5,000lb vehicle. I wonder what is considered legal for the driver to do when being surrounded by ATV's attempting to open their passenger door and block them?

Dozens of these will gather several nights a week in downtown philadelphia, and tear around city hall
Its illegal, of course, but cops’ hands are tied.
That was weird for two reasons.
1. Lots of folks carry in Pennsylvania. And by that I’m referring to both drivers and ATV guys. The ATV guys were rolling dice there.
2. What is the point of trying to open the door of a moving car? To jump in and abandon your ATV? Simply to scare the occupants of the car? Just what?

Pretty sure a ‘98 GMC K2500 w Snowplow mount wouldn’t be an inviting target for them....
Tribalism in all it’s glory. The degeneration of a United States into a Balkanized mish mash of brain dead dipsticks.
Keep playing stupid games and yer gonna win stupid prizes.
You bring up good points. I was trying to find out if these were a bunch of kids pranking their dad or brother....but it doesn’t appear that way.
I guess for the same reason when I was driving up I95 in Philly several moths back and someone got close, hit my mirror then sped off. I guess they like wreaking havoc “because they can”.
Nothing new

And one of the Alpha Hotels that attacked the SUV driver on the street WAS A COP!!!!!

In Georgia there is a very limited demographic-culture that engages in this behavior.
same in NY, not sure if they are rested or ready, but they look real tanned.
Rather like a pack of dogs chasing a car down the road. What’s the dog that successfully catches up going to do? Bite the tires off the car? Spring up on the roof? Exceedingly great risk no matter what the dog then chooses to do.
The dog is surely in no position to actually take over and DRIVE the vehicle.
After they grabbed at my door handle, I would open fire.

The Plains Indians used to have a thing called “counting coup”. The idea was to ride up to an enemy, touch him (but not hurt him), and then ride away. To do this was a sign of great bravery.
Perhaps we are seeing a modern version of counting coup here.
There is, however, a big difference. The Indian way truly was a sign of great bravery, as the enemy was quite willing to kill you. In the modern case all you’ve got is confused and terrified people in a car.
If I’m in the car and have my family with me. I know what I’d do. It’s called self defense.
