Large open yards! Reminds me of where I grew up!

Removable fencing is a great idea! (Does that have small mesh or chicken wire along the bottom to block small rabbits?)

You might be able to find some white tape for your frame online! (If it matters)

White tape - saw it & too expensive. I’m already tight on the budget so maybe as this tape needs replacing, I’ll do white.

The wire blocks are 2” wide, 4” tall so bunnies could get in. The garden is out in the open. Going by this morning on my way to the store, I scared a Red-Shouldered hawk off the board fence a few yards from the garden - same thing coming back in! Great bunny deterrent :-) I have never yet had a bunny problem or even seen one out in the field. I am saving my old mesh so I can put it along the bottom of the panels if necessary.

We’re on a country road (about 1.5 lanes wide), hilly & curvy. Our land is still zoned ‘agricultural’. Off the end of the road are 2 subdivisions - there is no outlet other than our road. Lots of traffic, but our house sits far enough back that we aren’t bothered. It’s a big problem when there’s a fire & the trucks block the road & people are ‘trapped’ ( they don’t handle it well) - happened twice when the property next door had two fires at different times. Otherwise, it’s pretty much country living.

Back to white tape ... I returned some other tape (not the black stuff) to the hardware store & bought some white - found a roll at Walmart where I didn’t feel like I was getting ripped off! I’ve used it on a couple of panels ... looks good, not quite as super sticky as the black stuff which is so sticky I can hardly get it off the roll.

Anyway, I made my SIL a dog “gate” for their porch - it is the same as my fence panels ... PVC frame with black mesh, just the size is different. I figured out a ‘slot’ on each side of the steps, attached to porch posts, and the gate slides back/forth between those slots. My SIL told me it’s one of the best presents she’s ever received (birthday).

I’m re-doing the gate with the wire, metal zips AND white tape! It will be much neater looking than what she’s got now. Also, since I don’t glue the PVC corners together, the frame tends to twist a bit with the mesh - it won’t do that with the wire.

The ‘slots’ were kept on the posts with extra-large zip ties. At the time, I did not want to put any screws into the posts or floor - the gate was put up when they were away so it was a surprise. I noticed last week, after years of zip ties & having them break, that my brother finally put in some screws so the slots are stable/sturdy. The new version of the gate with wire will do great in those slots.

I’ll post some pics when I get it done .... usually my bro is the one with all the great ideas so I’m pretty happy with this one - made my SIL really happy too. She had a new Collie pup & wanted a way to keep her on the porch and the “old man” dog as well. The old man just ‘bulled’ through any sort of stuff she tried to block the opening with (coolers propping up plywood, etc). The first time he encountered the gate, he tried 2 or 3 times to push through with no luck and gave up. We got a good laugh watching him give it a try & failing to get through - neither dog is a jumper so it’s low enough to get over without sliding it open if necessary. SIL is working today, so the plan is I’m going to re-do the gate while she’s gone & surprise her again.
