Smart! Easy enough for a kid to use, too. Now, if they’d just remember to CLOSE it, LOL!
The kids all have dogs of their own now. When they all show up with them, the porch becomes the dog playpen! Collie, Brittany, Beagle, Lab/Greyhound mix, rescue from an Indian Reservation (with their permission), & an Aussie Doodle. It’s a “zoo” & the gate contains them all!
So I cannot have a “King Chuck (roast)” on the hoof here on the place, unfortunately. What I do is visit Food Lion periodically & take advantage of their Manager’s Specials (sell by date coming up in a day or two). There are some really good deals to be had.
Today, I stopped by the closest Food Lion. Chuck Roast is on sale for $3.99/lb, but the case was empty. They did have Manager’s specials: 3 London broils for $3.89/lb & a 2 pound chuck roast for $2.39/lb. I bought them all.
Next stop was Tractor Supply to buy another roll of fence wire. There is a nearby Food Lion, so I stopped off there. No Manager’s Specials, but they did have plenty of the ‘on sale’ Chuck Roasts ... enough that I could pick through & get 4 really nice ones ... all 3 lbs or more, one close to 4 lbs.
My meat bill would have been $143.10; however, with the specials & sale, it was only $83.51, a saving of $59.59. I got myself a Cuban Roast coffee at WaWa to celebrate (first time in about a year I’ve gotten a coffee at WaWa - Cuban Roast is my favorite). All the meat is safely in the freezer - with the new 7 cu foot one, I have plenty of freezer space now, even if more venison is added - season doesn’t end until 1st weekend in January! :-)
