While car makers are increasingly moving toward electric vehicles, some representatives said they believe the EU’s plan is too quick.
European Union lawmakers reached a political agreement on Thursday for emissions rules that will effectively ban the sale of new cars with internal combustion engines beginning in 2035.
The planned law is set to require new cars and vans to have significantly lower carbon emissions by 2030 and to reach zero emissions by 2035, adding to pressure on auto makers and suppliers to accelerate the shift away from cars that run on gasoline and toward electric vehicles.
...The legislation still needs to be formally adopted by member states and the European Parliament, but is unlikely to change substantively from what lawmakers agreed to on Thursday evening.

Now they have created a Frankenstein. Recall the old story of the horse designed by a committee; and the would be the BEST possible outcome.
Also, just to display their total greed/stupidy/myopia they are now taxing EVs extra for who knows why. (Possibly because they can)
I wonder what, if anything, will be left of the EU by 2035?

Smells suspiciously like a plan from Davos’.
We are going to have these damn things shoved down our throats whether we want them or not.
2034/35 will be banner years for gas and diesel engine car sales since they will carry us through the dark times of failed EV’s until the ICE engine cars get built again.
Forced manipulation and transition from ICE to EV will not end well for the manufacturers.
The agreements to rid the world of Legacy engine/vehicle sales, virtually guarantees that there is a world war coming between now and 2035.
It will never happen. We may be down to 1957 Chevys, tip o the hat to US sanctions on Cuba, but we will go on. Backyard distilleries making alcohol to run personal vehicles will about. Revenuers will be swarming, be shot, then send more to be shot. People will NOT give up personal transporation for a wisp of gas from politicians anii...is that the plural of anus?
ABOUND not ABOUT....correction
