On a semi-related note there has been grassroots interest in a spin-off state that includes portions of eastern Washington, Oregon, and California. I did find it humorous that the left embraced the idea in the wake of Trumps 2016 election but prior to that it was the province of disaffected patriots, not Dhimmicrats.

no way in hell are we giving calif four senators
Does Virginia want it back?
More's the pity.
I'm in Upstate. You could chop off that tumor growing out of the lower east part of the state, make it its own state, and the rest of the original state would be a lot better off.
“You missed Sacramento”
Along with the University town of Davis, they’d be cut off like Berlin after the wall went up. Leftists could send care packages up I-80 to their Comrades via DoorDash or UberEats.
George Etzel Pearcy was an American geographer known for his plan to re-draw the United States map to have only 38 states. He also published influential work on America’s global role in stewardship over the air.
It made sense then..., and now.
The old joke in California Republican circles was “it’s the San Andreas’ fault” (with a purposeful placement of the apostrophe).
The observation being that if the San Andreas were to hurry up and continue its work of splitting open the Sea of Cortez on up to Tomales Bay, everything to the left would hold almost all of the Commies, and the rest of the state could get back to sanity.
It’s not quite that clean anymore, and such a big earthquake would probably damage the oyster beds in Tomales bay, which would be a true tragedy.
Anyway, there’s nothing in the constitution that says the state borders have to be contiguous, is there? (If that’s a requirement, Michigan’s in trouble). No need to toss the central coast into the trash along with San Fransicko and Los Angeles, as long as we’re daydreaming here.
Spoiler alert: after most of California falls into the sea, gold is discovered in the mountains and the whole thing starts up again.
Hope and pray those boundary includes my city. 🙏
What happens to the disconnected (pun intended 😂) lib areas?
I wish them luck! I don’t live there, but it’s a beautiful state run by absolute lunatics. And I don’t think those lunatics would want their money/power decreased by allowing all these people to “leave”.
New York State is the same. Beautiful but infested with crazed Democrats.
