The global shortages caused by the war in Ukraine have pushed some countries to focus on producing more of their own food. As a result, Zimbabwe is on course to reap its largest wheat harvest ever. DW's Privilege Musvanhiri reports.
This would be great news, if true.
“This would be great news”
For Zimbabwe, as well as Africa!
Isn’t wheat white?
Until the “leadership” takes its cut.
So in other words they brought in private companies from the outside to manage their farms after the government stole the land from the very productive White farmers who previously made the country the breadbasket of Africa and allowed incompetent government flunkies to take over the land....flunkies, who promptly turned it from a bread basket to a basket case.
Wheat is white after it has been bleached.
Wheat is a grain of color?
Who knew....
There’s white and red wheat.
A Russian ‘ally’....lulz.
GeGe.
Excellent news
Articles about China’s foreign policy towards Africa are more commonplace. Few China watchers take notice of China’s extensive ties with Zimbabwe.
Today, millions of supporters of Chamisa, before part of the Movement for Democratic Change coalition now in the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), believe the ruling party interfered in the elections then and will to do so again in 2023.
Is emphasis on “their”? and more of. One would expect that, food deficits and any remediation would be big news. The focus should be on where the rest of the worlds food comes from and how to help.
There about 5 or 6 major types of wheat.
Hard or soft white wheat is bran color, not white like white bread until it is processed.
Red wheat has a red tinge to it. Be it hard or soft variety.
I don’t recall being around Durum wheat.
My folks had a feed store. I clean and bagged a lot of seed as a boy.
Maybe I should use the color gold instead of bran. I am not good with colors.
“...pushed some countries to focus on producing more of their own food.”
About time they did.
Funny. Over 40 years ago, before the communists took over Rhodesia, it was often referred to as the breadbasket of Africa.
Then came the purges of white farmers and their families and the starvation and, eventually, begging white farmers to return to teach Mugabe’s minions how to grow their own food.
“Bumper crop” indeed.
When Mugabe took over, it soon became the basket case of southern Africa.
Now that their Marxist dictator is taking a dirt nap, it has become the breadbasket again.
Who knew?
Used to work with a bunch of South Africans.
After being run out of the country by mugabe, the new leader of Zimbabwe has been asking the white, Rhodesian farmers to come back and work the land. That place, according to the SAs, is considered the bread basket of Africa.
Maybe the new guys plan is working.
