Red Bull owner and co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz, who once claimed to drink 10-12 cans of the beverage every day, has died at 78.

Mateschitz accrued an estimated fortune of $24.65 billion throughout his career and was widely known as the richest man in Austria, Reuters reported Sunday. He passed away following a battle with cancer Saturday. Mateschitz built the Red Bull brand from merely an energy drink to the multi-billion dollar cultural giant it is today, sponsoring high-octane sports events, both fringe and mainstream, across the globe.

Red Bull first entered global markets in 1987 after modifying the recipe for a Thai energy drink, but the company wouldn't break into the U.S. market until 1990. While the company had a rocky start, it soon entered a stride and enlisted an Austrian marketing company that eventually coined the company's famous slogan, "Red Bull gives you wings," according to Reuters.

Today, the company sells nearly 10 billion cans annually, a third of which are purchased in the U.S.

They are not good for you.
I don’t take any pre-workout stuff anymore.

I’ve trained for over 30 years now, no point.

Just trying to hold muscle/strength while having low body fat, good flexibility, and athletic ability.

“I’ve trained for over 30 years now, no point.”

I trained for 30 years, bodybuilding and jogging, until Dec 26, 2018 when I had a heart attack/cardiac arrest (you can’t beat genetics). I was actually mentally planning my leg workout for that day when the blockage in my left ventricle decided to go to 100%. Now, between that and arthritis in my hips (probably caused by too much injectable testosterone over the years) I’m lucky to get out of the recliner. Getting old sucks.

Damn, that sucks. I played God knows how many hours of basketball from 1988-2004. Now I lift, sprint hills, and play volleyball. How did test hurt?

I have added yoga, and lowered the volume, intensity & frequency on lifting.

I think this guy had the most Men's Health covers, heart attack around 50. (His dad died of a heart attack at 42)

My father died of a heart attack a year younger than when I had mine. Like I said, you can’t beat genetics. I took a lot of testosterone. Some of it was prescription, some not. I liked taking it, whether I needed it or not. Arthritis is a debated side effect of long term use. One doctor quit prescribing it for me because of that.

1987 to 2022.. 35 years of drinking 10 a day it at making it to 78 I nearly think that it killed him. Pretty typical run.. in fact for US that’s a males life expectancy exactly right now
