I realize that a sizable number of women on Freerepublic, and likely an even more sizable number of men, oppose women’s suffrage

I am lukewarm on universal suffarge, but the founders had it largely right in attempting to balance interests through varying the electorate for legislative bodies, and I agree with the principle that at least one body ought to have a low threshold for suffarge.

Maybe on the national level the Senate could be resticted to biological men and the House to women, and if the majority feels a need to create additional chambers for LGBTQ+, well, the government governs best that governs least.

However, restricting suffarge is not a winning political issue in general.

I’ve spent years studying masculine vs feminine consciousness in the thought and decision making process.

Both are equally important, but have different attributes. Masculine consciousness is better at long term, bigger picture decisions. Feminine is better at the shorter term decisions.

Notice I stated masculine and feminine, not male and female. We all have both aspects, no matter the gender.

The ideal is that we embrace both within ourselves and connect them with Love. Only then can we make good long term logical decisions with care and compassion on the short term.

There’s this saying about closing the barn door after the cows have all escaped. Or trying to shut Pandora’s box up again after the bad fairies have gotten out and created havoc all over the world.

I don’t oppose any citizen voting. That being said, women’s suffrage, coming when it did and as it did, may not have been the best thing for our Constitutional Republic.

But it’s already done and, haha, I don’t think it would be a good move on anyone’s part to take voting rights away from so many people.

So the best thing to do - since this post is already full of little folk sayings - is just play the ball where it lies.

Assuming you’re not just a total woman-despising f2g and you do have some females in your life of which you are fond and appreciative, empower them with learning and instruct them as best you can. Advise them to avoid the emotional appeals of many candidates who wish to secure the “women’s vote.” Discuss electoral issues with them in a calm manner without getting emotional yourself. (I know: Tough task.)

Remember: Women in 3rd-world countries, where women are treated very badly and have no rights, will undergo great hardship and danger to be able to vote. They are frequently killed on the way to polling places. It’s a great big deal and for us to sit sort of bellyaching about it cheapens the terrible sacrifices a lot of people, men and women both, are faced with to be able to play a role in the electoral process.

Saying I agree with you, in case you are wondering, on both points - especially with the last one.
