Sheesh, I saw this in an old fashioned big screen theater, when I was 7 or 8.
Jack Albertson did a superb job in his acting.
Just some trivia, Jack's sister, Mabel Anderson, played Howard Sprague's mother, and Darren Stepen's mother on :Bewitched:.

Uncle Joe was the actual villian.

They have a Willie Wonka slot machine. I watched it being played and I noticed that all the children were like the cherries and lemons, on the old slot machines, except for one.
Veruca Salt was not featured, I guess the lady who played her asked for too much money.

When retail sales aren’t going as well as hoped, merchants provide incentives to bring in shoppers in the hopes of loosening wallets.
A local merchant conducts a Willy Wonka style Gold Ticket play with yesterday’s featured incentive:

I'm certain that tunnel scene was in no way associated with psychedelic drug use...

No sirree, not in a kid's movie (LOL). On the other hand look at Roald Dahl's work overall. Hmmmm.

When I saw that originally on the big screen, I almost crapped my pants.
Gene Wilder was a great actor, he could be funny and sarcastic as hell, and creepy, but not in a Joe Biden creepy way.

I love how Gene's meme lends itself to nearly anything thus ever popular. But let's get his take:
