I am in my early 70s and work evenings in the wine and spirits department of a large grocery store. One evening I watched a shoplifter take a large grocery cart heaping full of mechandise out the side door. I alerted management, but no way would I have intervened.
In another store in our chain a manager confronted several young Black girls who he had observed filling their purses with cosmetics. They dumped their stolen goods on the floor and left, but threatened the manager saying their boyfriends would soon be there. The boyfriends arrived and physically assaulted the manager serious enough that he needed medical treatment. Our chain now has uniformed security guards with tactical protective vests, mace and handcuffs.
Trial within 24 hours. Guilty. Death penalty administered within he next 24 hours. As simple as a .22 behind the ear. No muss, no fuss. Justice delayed is justice denied. No repeat offenses, ever.
