I thought it died in the late 90’s.
Any, and all, true scientists know that nothing is settled. If one can disprove, with independent corroboration, a truth that was previously accepted it is replaced. That’s the method, and it’s the best we can have.
Politics and Science have no place being intertwined.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go have my leeching. :)

Actually, doctors are using specially raised leeches to help heal certain types of injuries.
