Here is the problem with that. You have to clarify that “you” do not want any charges to be paid over that limit at all period. You want the over purchase to be completely refused and not covered “for your convenience.”

Most have a “one size fits all” policy to pay over the limit anyhow and then charge you a fine for overcharging your card. Similar to “overdraft” coverage and charges on a bank account.

Already had it happen a couple times... They “just don’t get” the concept anymore like they used to. All they hear is “Fine me if I go over that limit”, not “Do not approve” over that limit.
