A girls' high school volleyball player in North Carolina recently suffered severe injuries to her head and neck after a trans opponent spiked a ball into her face.
Early last month, Hiwassee Dam High School competed against Highlands High School in a girls' volleyball tournament. During the game, an unnamed biological male playing for Highlands spiked a ball over the net and hit an unnamed Hiwassee Dam player directly in the face.
Though video of the incident is grainy, the unnamed female player can clearly be seen lying on the floor for some time before recovering enough to walk off the court on her own power.
...
The girl is still said to be experiencing long-term concussion symptoms, such as vision problems, and has not been cleared to return to play either by a physician or a neurologist.
As a result of her injury, the Cherokee County Board of Education voted 5-1 to cancel all future volleyball games against Highlands High School, citing a "safety issue."
...
the ball had allegedly been traveling at 70 mph when it struck the girl's face. "I don’t know if that’s faster than normal, but it seemed like it was coming off very fast, abnormally, especially fast," Tatham said. "It not only hit her in the face, then the ball came off of her face with enough force to then go back through the net."
In addition to the safety concerns, the board also said it believes that male competitors have a "competitive advantage" over female opponents.
"The competitive advantage issue certainly has to come up in any scenario with that type of transgender conversion, per se," said Jeff Martin, vice chair of the board. "I can tell you that the board wasn’t searching out this kind of thing. It was brought to our attention based on safety concerns."
...
Board member Arnold Mathews reiterated that the decision applies only to Highlands and only to girls' volleyball. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association confirmed that each "local school system" can decide not to play games against particular opponents or schools.
"While we would prefer that schools or teams play all games it schedules," the NCHSAA said, "that latitude does exist."
Though the WTVC video below does contain clips from the Hiwassee Dam/Highlands game, it does not depict the spike in question. The MaxPreps video for this particular game also appears to be unavailable.
The British sports council’s study is largely ignored
Only the women of women’s sports can take the game back. The players themselves should refuse to compete against any male contestants in any sport.
They should respectfully be present for the National Anthem then walk off the field of play, whether it be pool, court, diamond, track, links or wrestling mat.
Each of us has the power to say, “NO!”.
I think some adults should also lend a hand, adult women.
Must be institutional transphobia.
As one who played volleyball in both high school and college I can tell you even when I was just a junior in high school on varsity, we boys could smash even the best of the college teams. There was no competition for the power we had. After I played at the local parks and rec center for fun and had to hold back probably 75% of what I was capable of.
This “safety concern” needs to be dealt with. He is not a girl and not even pretending. He knows exactly what he is doing and is enjoying playing the system.
Unnamed biological male? Why unnamed? Obviously the person WANTS to be ID’d as female. So NAME HIM. (Lib news media!)
I agree. If the competitors are not adults, they need to receive the permission and encouragement from the adults in their lives to take this stand. "I am proud of you," goes along way. There is a bigger issue here than the game. After all, sports is just a game.
Only if she knew it was a dude in drag.
I can still remember playground recess games in elementary school where boys would play girls in friendly softball games. Even the weakest guys could wipe the floor with the average girls. One guy hit a line drive and pegged the female pitcher in the face. She couldn't react fast enough. I think this was 3rd grade.
Does the dude have an adams apple? Does the dude have teats? (Griner?) All of that aside, when I played High School football, we had all sorts of info on our opponents. A great number of our plays were scripted towards the weaknesses and the players that made it exploitable. They knew of this tranny freak. Don't kid yourself.
Well, women’s college players hit pretty hard, too, compared to the recreational guy, but college and pro men — look out! Hard to imagine being on the receiving end of their attacks or even jump serves.
It’s only a game, Focker!
Interesting that the video is unavailable...
Hiding how much bigger the guy was.
Clown World strikes again but there may be a silver lining here. It appears the school board has hit on a clever countermove against the trans sports weirdos. Namely, they frame their objection as a SAFETY concern.
They don’t try to invoke basic fairness or biological reality or anything outdated like that. Instead they stay inside the Overton Window by focusing on safety. I could see the woke education establishment having trouble squashing a safety based objection, especially when it’s youth sports.
Unfortunately, by playing a sport in 2022 she did.
Elementary
I think I saw HIM and a short video on MaxPreps Might be easy to ID which one it was.
