I once attended a pro-life banquet. The keynote speaker was a priest active in the pro-life movement. He told a story about a couple he counseled outside an abortion clinic who already had several children. The youngest was just over a year old and the oldest was a sixteen year old boy.
The parents confessed that they were considering aborting the baby. When asked why, they said that they just couldn’t afford to feed another child.
The priest asked them why they didn’t kill the oldest boy instead of the baby. The parents were shocked! Well, he explained, if the cost of feeding the child is the reason to seek an abortion, then why not kill the child that eats the most?
Thankfully, he said, the parents decided against abortion.
