A jury acquitted Igor Danchenko, an analyst hired to compile parts of the Steele dossier that alleged ties between Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia, of charges of lying to the FBI on Tuesday.
Why it matters: It is a major blow to special counsel John Durham's multi-year investigation into the origins of the Russia probe and possible misconduct by U.S. law enforcement.
Danchenko was the third person charged, and subsequently indicted, in the investigation. This trial is expected to be the last stemming from Durham’s investigation before it is concluded.
The jury began deliberating on whether to convict or acquit Danchenko on Monday.
Context: Danchenko was charged with five counts of lying to the FBI in November 2021, though a judge later dropped one of the counts, saying the specific charge wasn’t strong enough to go before the jury, according to the Washington Post.

Pure politics by the jury.
“Pure politics by the jury.”
That’s what I think. Jury nullification.
Things like the FBI offering $1 million to Steele if he could prove the dossier was genuine, or that Danchenko was on the FBI payroll as a confidential informant, or that Danchenko's FBI handlers never vetted any of the information in the dossier with Danchenko, but still used the dossier as justification for a FISA warrant against Carter Page by extension Donald Trump, plus THREE renewal extensions of the FISA warrant.
What if this was all an elaborate plot by the Russians to discredit the FBI?
(just a joke folks)
If the FIB is free to lie to you, why is it illegal to lie to them?
[They are no paragons of virtue in any way these days anyhow.]
This country is in deep Kimchi. The national government crime syndicate is running this banana republic chicken coup. These courts need to at least require a double digit I.Q. to be on the jury. No picking your nose or scratching your ass allowed.
Jury members are not going to make the FBI or DOJ look bad. There are consequences.
“Jury members are not going to make the FBI or DOJ look bad. There are consequences.”
Exactly.
Unfortunately, the left controls all the courts inside the beltway. Same for NY.
Win some, lose some. Durham didn’t amount to much.
Justice in D.C.?
Bwahahahahahahahahaha.
The jury may have concluded that the FBI was as involved in pushing the Steele Dossier as Danchenko was.
It would be hard to convict Danchenko of lying to the FBI if the FBI was party to the same conspiracy he was involved with.
Without hearing the jurors interviewed it’s all a guess as to what their reasoning was.
Durham isn’t going to get any convictions out of East Coast democrat partisans.
It won’t happen...... but put Roger Stone or Steve Bannon in front of those same juries:
“Guilty” we didn’t need to see the evidence.
Our law system is a joke.
Every agent involved in Crossfire Hurricane is guilty of conspiracy to commit treason, which is a capital crime. There should be consequences for manufacturing and presenting false evidence. Trump was nearly removed from office twice on thinner charges.
The Doctor told me that lawyers will use any trick to get a case moved to DC because they know the jurors are little better than illiterate children who have an ax to grind against "the man".
The "Color" of Justice.
Wonder what Gen Flynn has to say

Actually....it’s another accomplishment of the communists 45 planks:
#35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

Bingo . they know their names, and probably how they voted and have long memories.
