I agree with Bernie on this. I would reject the merger due to antitrust concerns unless they can make a good case that they are being threatened by Amazon. But I doubt it. I can buy canned goods from Amazon. Nothing fresh.
Whole Foods is part of Amazon. I get my kimchi there.

Kroger is big in the DFW area, but they are finally starting to open HEB stores here.
But Amazon owns Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh. Both sell fresh produce both sell on line and deliver
In Connecticut, there's Acme, Stop & Shop, PriceChopper/Market32, Big Y, Shop-Rite and IGA.
Bernie wants one supermarket chain : Government Stores.
Grocery market is pretty competitive. You have Aldi and Lidl as low cost new entrants.
