Why didn’t he shoot it with his muzzle loader?
I’ve actually encountered a Mountain lion in the wild. beautiful big cats.
The guy was in the cat’s territory and I’m very glad he didn’t kill it. The Cat likes Elk too, and it has every right to them.
He had a Glock 40. But just being charitable, there were a few things he could have done better. One, not worry about the camera right then. Two, backing away from it as you make small whimpering pleas. Three, when it was clearly on the stalk and within 20 feet, aim carefully and fire.
He was lucky,
Shooting one handed so you can film with your phone. SMH...
Ibbet there is a federal bureaucrat somewhere busily trying to fabricate some charge to bring against him...
I have a Taurus .44 magnum for these type of trips.
How do they know the cat was disappointed? Maybe he smelled Utah Romney crap and decided this ain’t worth the trouble.
“People commented on the video expressing how lucky he was to have had the gun and to have survived.”
Yeah, nothing but luck he was carrying the Glock. No preparation involved.
My kid did stupid stuff with his car and had to walk home up 8 miles of canyon mountain roads and the cougars would stalk him.
He bought an ir thermometer thing and made them chase the laser dot far away until they were to tired to eat him.
But the human cougars still chase and want to eat him.
I’ve never been that close to a mountain lion but, it would be dead if it were that close.
Maybe her cub was nearby.
Judging from the video he was shooting to scare the cat, not to hit it.
But when you have a quart of adrenaline jammed in your veins, other things happen.
yeah, that’s bullsh!t...
Two shots and no kill? The guy is lucky.
The mountain lion chose wisely. It gets to keep living as a result.
Unless a big cat is actively hunting or perceives you to be a threat they will usually not bother you. Several years ago my two older sons were doing the Boy Scout trek thru Philmont NM. They told us that one day a big cat was shadowing them. It seemed to be on another trail about 50 yards to their right. After keeping a close eye on the animal for about an hour, it changed course and disappeared. My boys both were very sure that the cat knew their group was there but it seemed uninterested. A few got some pictures. All acknowledged that the event raised the hair on all necks.
