Wife and I were walking the dog recently. A tree guy was having trouble getting the branches to feed into the chipper. He climbed up into the feed chute, chipper going full blast, to free up the jam.

Preventable if safety procedures were followed and it shocks me how lax employers can be. I see and hear about it in my work all the time.

So many state and federal agencies are going to get a piece of the action. OSHA and CalOSHA to start, plus the Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB). Plus, a workers’ compensation death claim.

My brother used to trim trees for the utility. He mentioned a few weeks ago that guys would mis-apply a strap here or there and fall out there f the tree- sometimes landing on a coworker. I suppose if the chipper happened to be directly below…

He was “pulled into” it, so he must have been a feeder, and it was probably a bit slower and very terrifying.
