Simple.....gardeners will be classified as hoarders and everything you have will be confiscated....for the good of all of course.

If they know where it is, they can send a drone to spray it with Round Up or perhaps harvest it to “share” your produce in a more equitable fashion than you would on your own.

They come and collect it for “fair distribution” which means they get your good, homegrown, likely organic, high quality produce for themselves, while you get bugs to eat.

They show up and take all or, if they want to follow the British system in WWII and encourage you to keep on gardening, take half.
Three or four families would get together and have a "pig club" they would buy a pig, raise it on their scraps and then, when they took it to the state mandated butcher, the state got half of the meat.
