When we were stationed in Okinawa we had a yen account at the Bank of America ...
At that time the exchange rate was $1 = Y301
Our rent was Y46,000 about $140 The check pages were about twice the size of our regular ones ...
The local Yen rates changed at the start of the month when American servicemen had to pay their rents and it would take more dollars to buy the necessary amount of yen ...
By having a Yen account we saved a lot ...
We easy had over a million .... Yen ...
Sounds a lot doesnt it ???
:)
You should have banked in Zimbabwe dollars where everyone was a trillionaire.
And as a little side note, one of the best investments I've seen (but didn't take part in) was the 100 trillion Zimbuck bills. Prices for them as collectors items have gone up. If you had bought stacks of them when they were cheap and sold them now you could have made a stack of real money. Or you could have been wiped out if the quadrillion Zimbuck bill had been printed and no one wanted the 100 trillion.
