A good shot doesn’t need an auto-loader. Then again, I’m old school: We only hunted with bolt-action rifles, and the closest we came to an “auto-loader” was a .30-30 Winchester.

Yup, but as has been shown, under stress people will fumble a manual action. It’s why the Marines and Army finally took their pump shotguns out of frontline and near frontline service and fielded the Benelli M4 as the M1014. Also why police departments are switching to the M1014 or similar.

Yeah, go out in the brush here in Texas, where you can encounter enormous feral hogs that basically appear from nowhere at very close range, even if you’re actually hunting someone else.

Bolt actions’ slow cycle time and easy fumble potential is a good way to end up dead.
