I have friends of both sexes whose spouses have stepped out on them, but my findngs are biased. Nearly all of my friends are men (opposite of me), so the data skews heavily towards lady cheaters.
I do also have a pair of friends married to one another and who both stepped out about the same time. Amazingly, they’ve never been a stronger couple since. I was cheated on by my previous partner of 7½ years, and I wanted to kill him at the time. I can’t imagine having taken him back.
Well, Mozart thought so.
You are a dying breed. Now 50% of marriages end in divorce and almost 70% of them filed by women. The interwebs, schools, media, and entertainment are filled with messages counterintuitive to healthy long term relationships.
“One piece of advice, never date a Puerto Rican chick.”
I’ve only known two PR women as friends. Neither were available, but I would have dated either one of them in a heartbeat. Perhaps to my regret, but it would have been nice to try.
Exactly
I've been happily married to my current wife for nearly 20 years. The day I met her was the luckiest day of my life.
It's NOT because women are "more prone" that women cheat.
It's because it's easier for a woman to cheat.
A man generally has to invest effort to organize a liaison. A woman has to merely be available.
Regards,
Let me ask you one thing:
How many women agree to marry in order to secure (what they hope will be) regular sex?
In other words: How many women, after the wedding, breathe a sigh of relief and think, "Finally! Now I don't have to perform a song and dance anymore to get the regular sexual relief I need in order to think straight!"
Regards,
Such B-crap!
God bless you both!
Who's talking about "marrying?"
If you want to get from Point A ("Am so hard up I can't think straight!") to Point B ("Ahh! So... I wonder what's on t.v. right now?"), the "town bicycle" might be the perfect solution!
Regards,
This looks like a fairly newbie disruptor post. No problem…Freepers are not woke , but awake.
How many men marry a woman who completed education and built her career and marry a man so he could play golf and buy his boy toys? There is plenty of this going on. Stop with the 1970’s analysis. Total BS!
1. Guys have to work hard and "prove themselves" to be successful with the gals.
2. All the gals need to do (to be successful, from a Darwinistic p.o.v.) is to be good selectors.
3. But selecting well also requires some effort (a different kind of effort, but effort/smarts nonetheless). In nature, females frequently select on the basis of "signals" (e.g., a peacock's attractive tail feathers, indicating good genetic stock -> "dazzling sons"). But this can lead to a Darwinian cul-de-sac, b/c females select more and more on the basis of the "signal" rather than due to the actual underlying characteristic (genetic fitness).
4. Males then, over generations, divert more and more resources to displaying the "signal" to the point that it actually reduces their genetic fitness.
5. In humans, these misleading "signals" can take the form of "excessive self-confidence," "an inclination to indulge in reckless and even anti-social (criminal) behavior," "a studied dismissal of females," etc.
Regards,
A little sibyllinic. Could you please state that more clearly?
Regards,
Quite unclear. What is the "ambiguity of separation" which a married woman fears (or "cannot abide"), and which motivates them to divorce their husbands?
Separation from what? How is it "ambiguous?"
Please don't be coy! Speak in plain terms!
And what's your "work?"
"Inquiring minds..."
Regards,
Name me ONE major religion that doesn't attempt to control unbridled female sexuality!
The consequences of male infidelity are minor (side-chick gets preggers - male may be compelled by societal mores to provide aid). But the consequences of female infidelity: Male works his ass off to support a brood of some other guy's kids, dies issueless - his "good, hard-working, responsible father" genes are removed from the pool and eventually die out - thus eliminating that "good guy" behavior.
Regards,
Were you ever 18? I mean: An 18-year-old male?
It ain't easy!
Regards,
Incorrect conclusion! Misapprehension!
A lot of us FReepers are happily married - but we still remember the chaos and torment and unfairness of the "singles scene" at university, etc.
