Free Chinese Communist Party tickets
I have never thought of Hong Kong as a great vacation destination.
So I had eight hours to spend there, deposited my luggage with the airline and took a bus into town. Lots of cool stuff to see and do at bargain prices. The only real negative was that the town had a faint sewer smell wherever you went.
It would be interesting to say the least, if they
were to offer 500,000 free tickets to Hong Kong residents
if they wanted to leave...
People love freedom and prosperity it brings but loathe and despise dictatorships and poverty it brings.
Nobody wants to go to a country oppressed by a bloody regime. Who needs to spend their time and money going there?
If they scrap the zero covid policy, maybe I’ll consider it.
It’d be my luck somebody on my flight to HK would come down with COVID...and the Chinese military would weld the doors closed on the airplane.
Nope! Unfortunately, I didn’t it to HK before the CCP took over. Now I will never stay at The Peninsula.
How is the fly fishing?
And a free cell.
Free sounds good, but how much per night for lodging?
10 or 15 years ago I could have gone to China all expenses paid (I forget where) for a week or 2
I asked my boss who was from China and She looked horrified.
She said ‘no one should go there’, but that she would approve it I was really so stupid.
“Incoming international travelers must submit a pre-flight vaccination certificate, as well as a negative PCR test and rapid antigen test, before entering.
Once they’ve been permitted to enter, visitors are required to undergo a three-day self-monitoring period, during which time they’re prohibited from eating in restaurants or visiting bars.
Visitors also need to complete PCR tests on days 2, 4 and 6 after arrival, and a rapid antigen test every day for seven days.”
No Thanks to all of that!
One Way tickets?
Too bad they don’t offer 500,000 airline tickets to residents wanting to escape
ChiComs will lock you in jail for saying the wrong thing.
It’s a tarp.
People should not go to illegally occupied Hong Kong.
My last visit of many was in May, 2019 - just as the anti-government protests (the ones directly responsible for China initiating the COVID pandemic) were beginning. Hong Kong still felt very international then, though it had been trending authoritarian in previous years. I’m afraid today it would feel like visiting any other Chinese city.
How stupid does one have to be to leave America to vacation in Communist China
A humorous mystery series set in Hong Kong before the handover. 99cents for the first one an kindle:
“Among the gangsters and the goldsmiths of Hong Bay, Chief Inspector Feiffer and his police department had their hands full . . . tourist troubles, a US sailor turned stick-up artist, and the jealous Chinese who solved his marital difficulties with an axe.
Then the Mongolian with a kukri brought an extra touch of terror to the district . . .
Yellowthread Street brings to vivid life a seamy world where people called Osaka Oniki the Disemboweller, Shotgun Sen and The Chopper feel at home, a world of surreal possibility recorded with unique humour and a poignant sense of humanity.”
Could Gov. Abbott and Gov. DeSantis send a few thousand people?
One-way tickets only. I wonder if there is a Hong Kong version of Martha’s Vineyard.
