Two people have died and six others were wounded during a stabbing rampage in front of the Wynn Casino on the famed Las Vegas Strip on Thursday, police said.

Police began receiving reports of a "series of stabbings" on Las Vegas Boulevard about 11:40 a.m., Las Vegas police Capt. Dori Koren said during an afternoon press conference.

While on scene, police quickly took a suspect into custody and began providing medical aid to victims, Koren said.

Two of the eight victims died. Three of the surviving victims were in critical condition, Koren said.

"The weapon we recovered was a large kitchen knife," he said. It was too early in the investigation to determine a motive, Koren said.

"The scene is under control," he said. "The suspect is in custody and everything appears safe for now."

Las Vegas police tweeted a news alert which said the report of the stabbing, shortly before noon, occurred “in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.”

I imagine that there are many people who think, because they have managed to escape the rat race and live “off the grid” (meaning they’re more than 10 miles from the nearest convenience store/gas station), that they are safe.

Nah: If you live way out in the middle of nowhere, you’ll eventually - at some point - wonder who your new neighbors are and then find out they are running a crap-toe currency operation AND a meth lab! (And the company they work for are all Chinese.)
