If the power outage is caused by EMP they will all be rendered useless.
As will most vehicles on the road today. If there is an EMP device used, charging your EV will be the least of your worries. šÆ
Well, so will gas powered vehicles for the most part. A large EMP attack will also fry crucial electronic components in all but the oldest vehicles.
EMP would render every vehicle, even conventional useless.
Not necessarily. EMP is overrated because there are simple ways of protecting against it. Those "ways" are in use.
The biggest problem with the notion that the EV will come to the rescue during a power outage aught to be obvious.
In the event of an EMP strike on the US mainland we will already be in WWIII and we likely will have a few other problems as well.
In that case, nothing will work except your feet.
But using an EV for back up power for a home is a good solution for a couple hours. But how many morons will try to ply in their homeā¦and run a cord back to their car to charge it?
I have plugs in my truck that can recharge phones and computers. Not sure I could run a refrigerator with it.
