Well I can’t defend the government on covid or the honesty of a Biden administration, which I detest.

Like Trump, I believe Biden blew whatever opportunity he had to deter this war.

Is the war worth it to the American taxpayer?

Yes if you believe our wealth and security can be at risk from a successful Chinese/ Russian axis.

We have some interest in denying Russia the resources of Ukraine, and the opportunity it would give Russia to threaten Poland and Europe.

Also an interest in deterring China or at least weakening Russia as China’s war partner.

The situation is very risky. Once the war started, Putin became desperate. Use of nuclear weapons is unlikely but a terrible risk.

At this point the proxy war is our best bet. Sort of a reverse Vietnam.

I do believe outright failure would be a very bad development.
Especially following the debacle in Afghanistan.

These are my thoughts in short form. I regret needing to accomplish anything via Biden.

I reject all the stuff about the war being about globohomos, etc. That’s just ridiculous. Putin is a legitimate thug, a killer. He’s not doing anybody any favors.

Again, can’t disagree with you on most of what you posted.

I think we part ways on the nature of current Russian regime.

Is it evil, corrupt, brutal? Of course it is. Is it an ideological, existential enemy as was the Soviet Union, I don’t believe so.

Soviet ideological zealotry led them to foment trouble around the world: from Korea to Africa to Vietnam to Cuba and they got a lot good American soldiers killed along the way. So yes, payback in the Ukraine is well deserved.

But I believe Putin’s Russia is a much less ambitious, non-ideological foe and seemingly unable to project power regionally, much less globally.

I also don’t believe Russia to be America’s natural enemy, the interregnum of the red czars - Lenin and Stalin notwhistanding.

In any case, thank you for your thoughts, well founded.
