The only people who could possibly benefit by blowing the pipeline are the Russians (if they can blame it on the US) or the Ukrainians (if they can blame it on the Russians). It doesn’t help the US at all.
how do the russians benefit from blowing up their own pipeline?
> It doesn’t help the US at all.
Nonsense. It keeps the Germans in line by foreclosing their options on making a deal with the Russians.
LOL...it helps NATO (and by extension the US) if it keeps the Germans from seeking terms with the Russians, rather than freezing and collapsing economically this winter.
It’s a “now youse can’t leave” act against the Germans.
I’m wondering that also. Except possibly our relationship with Poland, how does it help the US if the pipeline was barely operational in the first place. And if Russia is trying to signal it is willing to target civilian infrastructure without taking credit it isn’t even a symbolic effort.
There were no transit fees on the Nordstream pipelines because they were in international waters, not on any country's territory.
Remember - our Uniparty was milking the Ukrainian transit fees for that sweet sweet grift [Burisma, anyone?].
They would scuttle their biggest negotiating card so they could drag their biggest and best armed rival into open conflict with them? And they benefit from that?
See post 10.
Didn't Norway just open a new pipeline to the rest of Europe? Blow up the Russian pipeline and get the US and the once and future USSR pointing at each other. Norway wins!
Lol
Yep that’s why the United States threatened to blow it up even before the special military operation began
Nordstream II was never operating awaiting permit to open
Nordstream I was empty but pressurized having already been shut off by Putin
So I’m sure one morning he woke up after a night feasting on Ukrainian babies roasted on a spit and a bit of vodka and said “ shit I’ll just blow the damn thing up”
It being his single biggest asset of leverage over the west notwithstanding
