Just an idea. (Which I am kicking around!) You might look at making Galvanized metal raised beds and filling them a better soil or medium that retains water. There are a bunch of You-Tubes on these. Raised beds are good on your back. Also, remember you don't have to fill a high bed all the way up with dirt. I am partial to Vegega beds. They are supposed to last 20 years, but I'l take 10 in the Florida sun.
