New reports state that child porn was the one thing he barred on the site, but the drugs sold on it were “of the purest quality.”

He was accused of murder for hire... maybe to persuade him to talk- but for some reason the feds did not pursue that in court.

And two of the federal investigators ended up in prison too, which is awkward.

He sold nothing. He basically made a dark web version of eBay.

Our current “justice system” is a British farce and must be destroyed.

Ross Ulbricht did nothing wrong.

He was deserving of a pardon.

I guess he should've been black.

Trump might've pardoned him.

Yep, there’s a lot of misinformation in the responses here.

He made a percentage of everything sold. Thus it is the same as selling.

Everyone focuses on Silk Road and the horrors of allowing people to interact there, and all the blue haired crusaders hear “THEY SOLD DRUGS!!! DRUGS I TELL YOU!”

That is not where Ross screwed up. He actually contracted two murder for hires HIMSELF to protect his assets. It is why, although I am in theory a defender of Silk Road, I have to say Ross just got what was coming to him.

The first murder for hire was a complex scam where some fake customers developed a fake spat and faked losing money for drugs and then threatened to go to the cops. Another fake customer steps up and says he knows of a Hells Angel hit man who can take customer 1 out. Ross paid the guy in BTC, the hit man killed the bothersome customer, and all was well. It turned out none of the characters even existed. It was an elaborate scam and Ross was beautifully snookered.

The second hit man was an FBI undercover agent that Ross paid to kill another perceived threat to Silk Road.

So, while I do not do any drugs, any time, ever, I will defend the NON OBLIGATION of a site purveyor to keep tabs over what is bought and sold and would argue from that alone that Ross is innocent..., that is not the root reason why he belongs in jail. You can’t just kill those who threaten your financial stability.

Sorry. Not with him on this one.

Silk road was an anonymous ebay. Because it’s users were not tracked, some users sold drugs and guns and things like that. There was never a proven case of murder for hire although it was alleged. This kid never sold drugs or guns himself. He provided a truly anonymous ebay like platform. He got more time than a murderer. Interestingly, 2 of the fbi agents that confiscated the $70 million of so in Bitcoin from the site later went to jail for trying to sell it illegally to enrich themselves. I wonder how much time they got?

Not enough. The only reason they got any time was they tried to screw their buddies. Not for the crime[s] they committed. We have no Justice System. It is a punishment system.
