This translates into a vehicle cargo capacity that’s almost three times that of a San Antonio-class amphibious warship (LPD-17), Shugart said. “AN LHA or LPD spends a lot of cubic feet [on] Marines able to operate for weeks or months at sea. That’s a lot of wasted space if all you’re doing is making a quick trip across the strait,” he said.

He said that in the event of a war the CCP would perform a massive decapitation strike on all US bases and possibly cities. Forget that it might lead to complete annihilation of the Chinese. Putin has proven that reality need not play a part in the decision process. Xi, like Putin, has created an atmosphere where no one gives him bad news. This is a characteristic of autocratic regimes. The Japanese ran a war game for the battle of Midway, which they lost. The Junor officers had positioned the American fleet almost exactly where it ended up in reality at the start of the battle. They were humiliated because that wasn’t the way the Americans would play it, so they did it again where the Japanese won. So, you can’t count on reality being a factor.
That reminded me of the proposed invasion of Japan. They were not a bunch of dumb gooks. They knew exactly where the Americans would land based on their understanding of what we required for an invasion of that size.
