Dang. That is going way back. I was a mere lurker back then.
“Absolutely, in our state you load it up and take it to game and fish. They will issue you a tag to legally possess the meat and chalk it up as road kill.”
I got so many roadkill deer that the game commission gave me a permanent permit. I drove a highway through a state forest that always had fresh deer hit. The game commission regional headquarters was at the end of the highway near my house. It got to the point I would not pick them up unless there were two or more of them.
One time a deer had two broken legs and couldn’t run, so I jumped on it and slit its throat. The blood sprayed and covered me like a garden hose. Had to stop at the car wash and spray myself off before I went home. Oh to be a Hillbilly again!
It takes a pretty hard impact to gel and ruin the meat. The skin is pretty tough.
lol, I got two deer over the years. But for Az that is pretty good. First one I hit with a garbage truck coming back home into the yard for the day. Front load fork truck. Had rope so tied him to the forks and lifted him up on top of the truck. lol
That is hilarious. :)
Probably a lot of the meat was ruined in the collision.🤔
Was under different screen name back then. Started in 2000.
Lot of changes.
Older and grayer. Maybe wiser.

Small moose to only yield 100 lbs of meat.
Probably only took the back strap.
Gamey.
Depends how picky the person doing the butchering is.
Good road kill stories! Like!
Clinger was a bit of a gourmet and liked the bigger portions. He tried to eat a whole jeep.

“Moose makes motorcyclist eat it.”
Words are rubbery things.
