I see EV’s being situationally practical. An EV golf cart, completely practical. A cheap EV vehicle for in town errands, practical. But as a workhorse, for distance drives, back country... not practical.
That’s all we’ll be allowed - because they don’t want humans leaving Control Zones to mess up Gaia, anyway.
Have you seen the youtube discussions regarding EV long haul trucks. They easily demonstrate the lunacy of the whole concept - at least with current tech.
Now, if they could come up with a battery that weighed 1/10 of what current batteries do, and have five times the range, THEN you might have something. But we’re not there yet.
I agree. EV's have their uses. I plan to eventually get one for my wife for "around-town" errands. She can just plug it in at night and not worry about pulling into gas stations (which she hates), getting oil changes, tuneups and all those other mechanical things that most women are horrible about keeping on top of.
No way however are EV's useful as a working pickup truck. What the hell was Ford thinking? Then again, a lot of F-150 owners never even get the truck bed dirty. Maybe that was their target demographic.
Mom has an EV golf cart modeled like a ‘57 Chevy that goes 60mph
She uses it to tool around the neighborhood

They are being marketed as “golf cars” now. Many never see a golf course. I suspect they will find a way to replace some cars with them.

I don’t think they’re cheap.
You really want a separate car for that?
