They were coming from the plane’s loudspeaker. Flight attendants assured passengers it was a technical mixup. It was presumed that once the flight got underway, the noises would cease. Instead, they continued for hours: weird guttural moans and grunts projected over the intercom, apparently coming from nowhere.
In an interview with Gizmodo, Collins characterized the noises as a cross between “explosive diarrhea, vomiting, and a weird, vaguely sexual moan.” Having listened to the noises, this writer would add “bad impression of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein’s monster” to that list. In general, the noises are weird, uncomfortable, and resistant to easy explanation. You can listen for yourself in the video below.
Los Angeles Times reports at least two other recent incidents in which flights were plagued by weird barfing noises. Another website counts a total of five incidents, all of them involving LAX for some reason.
When reached for comment by Gizmodo, American Airlines claimed that the groans from the Sept. 6 flight were caused by a “mechanical issue”

I was actually on a flight with Shatner a few years ago, only one row away. Didn't realize it was him until we were deplaning. I am kind of glad!
There was an Eastern Airlines plane that crashed years ago and undamaged parts were salvaged and used in other planes after that. On planes that had those parts, there were ‘ghosts’ seen. I worked with a pilot who was on a plane that had a sighting and there was a part that the deceased pilot pointed out that needed attention. Not sure if he saw the actual sighting or another crew member but the pilot who told me about it was a stand up, no nonsense guy and I absolutely believed him.
There is more here about the plane crash and subsequent sightings:

Taco Bells at the airports.
Was there anything on the wing of the plane?
It’s just travelers groaning and attempting suicide because the inflight movie is “Ghostbusters 2016” again.
There was a book written about this. “The ghosts of Flight 401. Believe there was a movie made.too. I was fascinated about this story.
Caused by door seal leaks,,,,generally from dry surfaces not seating properly; lub with recommended material or silicon.
It does sound like some sort of hack of the audio system.
If it has happened multiple times, I wonder if they cross-checked the passenger list to see if the same person was on the flights.
Well, either the hacker found a vulnerability unique to AA systems, or all their frequent flyer miles are with AA.
Someone had the fish.
Hello?? It’s a pressurized metal tube held together by bolts!
Insane. I have a hard enough time flying. If this ever happened to me, I don’t know how I would handle it.
Borgnine was awesome in that
