ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Petersburg man was arrested for driving under the influence on Thursday afternoon after crashing into a ditch off I-275.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report, troopers responded to a crash off the 1-275 off ramp at 38th Ave. N. at around 2 p.m.
Troopers said they found Adam Smallwood, 39, in the driver’s seat of a car registered to him and with the keys in the ignition. Smallwood reportedly crashed into some small trees and ended up in a water-filled ditch.
Troopers said Smallwood’s speech was slurred and he kept repeating “we’re going to be okay”. His breath reportedly smelled of alcohol, on top of other indicators of intoxication, like unsteady balance and bloodshot eyes.
Troopers said his breath tested at 0.37, more than 4.5 times the legal limit of 0.08. FHP said it took two EMS personnel to help Smallwood out of the car.
Who is this we’re he’s speaking of? That’s what I’d like to know.

For someone who is 180 pounds 10 beers is 0.25 BAC.
Haven’t been able to determine how many beers would get you to 0.37
Only everyday drinkers to excess could be at .37 and still be able to crawl, not even walk.
So St. Pete is a different species from Florida Man?

From my limited experience people with a BAC that high don’t get there in one drinking session; they’re long term alcoholics who pretty much drink all the time. I saw a guy that I was told later had a .42 one time. When I saw him he was splattered all over the road after he walked right in front of a lady doing about 45 miles an hour.

The US Rep for St.Pete is Charlie Crist, its also the home of one of the biggest gay pride events in the country. St Pete has a rather tenuous grasp of reality. I would say that “St Pete Man” is the more sophisticated version of “Florida Man” who is just basically an undisciplined moron.

It depends on the beer. A normal beer, say 4.5% ABV is considered about .015%. So ten of those would be .15 BAC or so. 8% IPAs or liquor would be an entirely different story, of course.
