Some Freeper awhile ago said that the monarchy brings in more money due to tourism than it spends. I have no idea if that is true, but it could be.

I think his apparent approach is coming from the heart and reflects a general philosophy. But it also conveniently answers the questions: Will Prince Andrew and Harry come back into the fold and be given duties and benefits? Obvious answer seems to be: Not a chance. We’re slimming down. You guys are on your own.
I sometimes fall for "click bait" and looking at some of the jewelry pieces of the Royal Family is a temptation I cannot withstand. I clicked on one site recently that had tiaras as the focus. Well, they had a couple of pix of Camilla; and, I noticed that she seemed to always pick the largest and most (dare I say it) ostentatious tiaras of any of the women shown.

The French who “slimmed down” their Royalty were a bunch of murderous, militantly atheist anti-Christian, bloodthirsty communist thugs. Hold them up as heroes only if you’re willing to do the same with Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, and Idi Amin.
I have seen Brits claim that the taxes on the trinkets and general tourism associated with the Royal Family bring into the UK Treasury something like 4X the total expenditures paid to keep up the Royal Family and their properties.
If true, I can see why they stick with their Constitutional Monanarchy.
