A road rage “killer” in Kentucky was found not guilty about six years ago. He even started it and followed the guy off the freeway. But the other guy got a bat out of his trunk and started beating the instigator’s car’s windshield and side windows, at which point the instigator shot him dead.
If one fears for their life or serious bodily injury and they are in Kentucky, the use of deadly force is justified, even if you started the encounter at the “non-violent” stage. The other guy upped the game and was killed for it.
An armed society is a polite society.

That part is missing in the Kentucky statute. If you provoke someone with words, and they come at you with a baseball bat, you have the legal right to shoot them dead.

Problem is, you don’t just shoot randomly at a car. Shoot at the driver. Well, that sort of speaks to what the problem is here. If he could convince a jury that the car really was trying to run him “off the road”, and could show contact points on the cars, perhaps he could have gotten away with shooting the driver of the other car.

Sounds like the Defense atty played the race card so brilliantly that he established the shooter’s motive to be anger instead of fear. “They called me names” is not a justification for murder.
Other than “claimed”, the article does not reveal any evidence that anyone was actively trying to run the hothead off the road when he fired.
