A better study would compare active people who do and don't drink coffee. It would also be worthwhile knowing who paid for the study and what kind of results they wanted.
My doctor put me on a strict diet for BP. It wasn’t something I could stay on (too extreme) but with pretty much everything fun removed I not only had renewed taste for natural foods, but the most energy I’ve had in a long time, without stimulants
Flash forward… I OF COURSE found my way back to coffee! Lol, I’ve actually maintained my weight loss thankfully.
Caffeine use only started in 2020. That’s got to be it.
It’s just yet another ‘study’ from starving researchers desperately writing outrageous research outlines to solicit funds to pay their student loans.
