The energy company Eon demands a significantly higher gas bill from the Hanoverian baker Eckehard Vatter . He demands around 330,000 euros from the entrepreneur for the gas consumption of the past four months. In addition, he should pay the amount within 14 days. "Are they crazy?" He reacted indignantly, according to the Bild newspaper. "A year ago it was 5,856 euros per month in gas costs for our large furnaces and heating."
The boss of the family business, which has existed since 1955, reported on a previously concluded contract with a price guarantee until the end of 2023. "But it was suddenly terminated." Now his new energy supplier is demanding a price increase of 1,200 percent. Vatter was not given a reason for the increased price .

Looks like this German bakery will need to begin using coal to fire his ovens.
I would like to see reports on what homeowners in Germany are paying for electricity today versus what the German homeowners paid in 2021.
German homeowners may not be hit yet with monstrous electrical bills as have the industrial companies.
The Wall Street Journal told us today that Europe will get through this just fine.
Are they fabulists?
it will be cheaper to burn the dining room furniture to keep warm this winter
maybe even the wife’s curio cabinet
as long as you can also afford the divorce
I feel your pain, Eckehard. My electric bill for July was over $400. We just got August... over $500!
“Baker should pay more than 300,000 euros for gas (4 month bill!)”
Take that, Putin !!!!
It is a test of political faith to claim to believe the most absurd things.
Here is the ‘all-in’ cost of electricity at my home in Florida. ‘All-in’ cost includes the taxes and fees.
Jan 2021 11.8 cents per kilowatt hour
Jan 2022 13.6 cents per kilowatt hour
Sep 2022 14.7 cents per kilowatt hour
What has been missing in the many news reports regarding European electrical costs is a comparison like above for a typical homeowner’s electrical bills in the various countries in Europe.
As the saying goes: “If fuel costs too much to make bread, then let them make cake”.

In Europe they were already at 30 to 40 cents, even before the liberation* of Ukraine began, thanks to Greta. Now they’re expecting it to rise to $1.00. The numbers they’re looking at are next to impossible for Americans to imagine, much less pay, but that is what you get if you shut down your own sources and rely on others...and then think you can ‘punish’ your suppliers.
*I only use that term to tweak the Neocons here
Here is some info on German residential electrical prices—
Germany is one of the most expensive countries worldwide for electricity supply. In 2018, German customers were charged 0.33 U.S. dollars per kilowatt-hour. Although production is cheap, additional taxes and fees increase the final cost. The renewable surcharge is one of such additional fees hiking up end costs. In 2019, this surcharge made up 21 percent of the final composition of power prices for German households. This levy is to support Germany’s renewables expansion, such as wind, solar, biomass and hydropower installations.

They should probably not use that in an ad.
