The issue here is hypocrisy.
A couple of weeks ago, a Black athlete from Duke University, playing at BYU, accused the students there of shouting racial slurs at her from the stands. The mainstream media immediately jumped on the "racist" bandwagon, condemning BYU and making the "victim" an immediate heroine.
BYU did a thorough investigation and found no evidence of at all of the incident. In other words, the whole thing was racial hoax, à la Jussie Smollett.
The point is that the Left gets away with hyping false accusations alleged by a single "victim" of a minority class, but when a crowd hurls derogatory statements about a religious group, that's totally okay. Talk about double standards.
The governor of Utah is within his bounds in issuing a statement. If not for the big media stir caused by the unfounded accusations of racism at BYU, I doubt he would have said anything.
Now, can we all please get back to enjoying sports and not turn everything into a big bawl session.
I believe it was last year at . . maybe Colorado? . that a black athlete complained about slurs. it turned out the team mascot was named Digger and someone in the audience was shouting his name to get a photo of him. Big hullabaloo for nothing.
