A Canadian Tesla owner claims that after the battery on his $140,000 car died, the automaker told him a replacement would cost $26,000 and locked him out of the vehicle until he pays for a new one.

You jump your ICE vehicle to provide a spark to turn over the engine. The alternator takes over thereafter. What are you providing electricity to jump in an EV?
Yes, you should buy a new car before the mandated kill switch is installed on all cars.
Here is a bidness idea for any electronic- or computer-oriented people here on FR.
Start a business disabling internet connectivity to cars, especially any type of lock-out features. Or subscription nonsense like subscription heated seats.
There’s never been a lock invented that can’t be picked so probably there is some way to get around this stuff.
Don’t look at me, I had one class in electronics and that was plenty.
Does the Tesla allow for jump charges?
I’ve never seen the insides of one before.
"Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!"
I remember, now. You get your new from Mother Jones mag and Amnesty Internation reports.
If they can lock you out for a lack of a new battery, they can lock you out over some parking tickets in the brave and new world.
They’ll be able to lock anyone out, for anything they want if this sh*t continues.
“What are you providing electricity to jump in an EV?”
You can use a 12v battery another 12v battery like the one in your car.
So erffing sad
I read about one Tesla today where the air conditioner condensate drainage goes on top of the battery, rusts a panel which then doesn’t seal, and the battery fills up with water.
New battery is almost 30grand Canadian.
>> Just like you jump your car.
Bull hockey.
I had a feeling you’d pop up.
I’m sure you’ll be telling us all about how Musk and his 95% charging stations are going to save the world.
“Does the Tesla allow for jump charges?

The 12v battery is used to control the systems just like your car.
In this case it died. The buyer jumped the 12v battery and opened the doors.
If the battery went dead of course he’s locked out. The door locks are probably battery operated.

I had a feeling that you would troll me with an attack since you can’t argue with facts.

Yes. Buyer jumped the 12v and opened the doors. I guess the didn’t expect that to be revealed.
Yeah well, at least I’m not supporting impoverished African children digging up rare Earth materials by bare hands for EVs that will inevitably run out of power and be powered by evil “fossil fuels.”
Your arguments are invalid and impractical in real-world conditions.
Everybody……..listen up
TexasGator is on the thread. He’s gonna tell us about 700hp electric toy cars, torque and how Tesla charging stations operate at 95%. Until there’s no electric to power them like in California.
