What to know about Raymond Dearie, the judge who could serve as Mar-a-Lago search special master
The Franklin News Post ^ | 9/15/2022 | Paul LeBlanc

The Justice Department and former President Donald Trump's legal team have found rare agreement in a potential candidate to serve as the special master tasked with reviewing the documents seized from Mar-a-Lago.

Judge Raymond Dearie, whom Trump's legal team put forward, is an acceptable option to serve as the third-party attorney to independently review the seized materials, the Justice Department said in a court filing Monday evening.

While it remains unclear when US District Judge Aileen Cannon will decide who will serve as the special master, here's what you need to know about Dearie and the role he could play in the investigation.

I’m going on the record now. The special master will turn out to be a DS hack. Trump will get no benefit from the special master. Every time an “independent” is brought in to judge, investigate or arbitrate, it always turns out the independent is a long time, card carrying member of swamp. Remember the “independent” inspectors general during Russia, Russia, Russia?

why would Trump’s team put this guy forward if he’s a total loser? What I just read about him is not good so I can’t figure out why DJT advocated for him.

Someone suggested Barr and Wray to Trump. Who suggested this guy to Trump? Trump doesn’t know him from Adam. Look at that four year dumpster fire of a cabinet, why would Trump’s team put those guys forward if they’re (for the most part) total losers?

So the FBI checks the vault and found blackmail material on him. Perhaps in the Epstien trove they siezed.

totally agree. Trump MUST pick DeSantis for VP as I fully believe DeSantis will keep DJT out of the ditch on these picks for cabinet, advisor, etc.

Here's the criteria:

1. Was he an Epstein express passenger?
2. Did he illegally adopt children?
3. Has he ever worked for Bob Mueller?
4. Did he ever do business w/ anyone named "Podesta"?
5. Does his retirement account own Huawei stock?

If "no" to all of those, that's probably the best Trump can find.

Apparently Trump’s side is ok with this pick too.

Yes, Dearie signed one of the Carter Page warrants; but it has since come out that the FBI wasn’t entirely forthcoming when applying for it.

Judges don’t like to be lied to, or made a fool of.

Time will tell.

When this broke I was watching Waters World. Jesse indicated this Judge did sit on the FISA court and did sign a warrant for the FBI against the Trump campaign. He also indicated the Judge is now aware the FBI lied in the application. Like you said, judges don’t like to be lied to especially in high profile cases that make them look like fools. I think the FBI and DOJ are going to find that any ambiguity regarding documents are going to go Trumps way.

There was never any accountability by the FISA court towards the FBI for their transgressions. This could be pay back time.

He’s been bamboozled again by his legal team! What kind of freaking legal team does he surround himself with? He’s good at deals but his judgment on law affairs suck!

I hope so. But my radar antenna is still on high alert. This reminds me of judge Sullivan the way he did Flynn we were so sure he was going to be honest fair and a man of integrity he turned out to be this stinking dishonest swamp POS creature!

“Dearie was one of the judges who approved an FBI and DOJ request to surveil Carter Page...”

The fix is in.

Yeah, but still, two things:

#1 - Any judge who sat on the FISA court for 7 years was routinely rubberstamping patently unconstitutional surveillance of American citizens with regularity.

#2 - Any judge who approved wiretaps on a presidential campaign, on false evidence or not, has already shown they are willing to aide and abet interference in the political process by federal law enforcement.

Twenty years ago I would have said this would be a no-brainer. The judges I knew didn’t take kindly to being lied to in a sworn affidavit. Today, partisan politics have crept into every facet of law enforcement and the court system. We can only hope that this judge is old-school and doesn’t appreciate being used as a pawn in an attempt to overthrow an election.

I believe there are still jurists who put the law above politics. Let’s hope this is one of them.

I’d like to be optimistic rather than pessimistic. There are thousands of judges at all levels that are outside the spotlight. Most, I believe, attempt to follow the law without personal bias.

Let’s kind of review what has happened with this judge and his relationship with the FBI. He was one of the first judges on the FISA court to approve a warrant allowing for surveillance of Carter Page at the beginning of Crossfire Hurricane. At the time, he was presented with an affidavit that was prepared by the FBI that affirmed there may be foreign (Russian) interference in the Presidential election cycle and the interference may have been part of the Trump campaign apparatus.

Based on the facts presented in a sworn affidavit, he approved the warrant.

But now we know that the FBI was well aware the source cited in the affidavit was faulty, there was potential interference by the Clinton campaign in developing the information and it appears, the hierarchy of the FBI and Justice Department that were willing and able to put their thumbs on the scale to tip the election to Hillary.

This information has been dripping out since Mueller.

Why did the FBI and Justice feel the need to present a false affidavit to the FISA court? If they felt the FISA Court would issue the warrant (and subsequent warrants) with a wink and a nod then the need to insert false information and exclude exculpatory information wasn’t needed. Yet, the FBI presented a false narrative to the Court because they probably knew the warrant wouldn’t be issued had they told the truth.

Which is why I think having a judge from the FISA court as Special Master is a stroke of genius on the part of the Trump legal team. I doubt this judge, or any judge that was lied to by the Justice department is going to give ANY benefit of the doubt to the FBI and Justice after they violated their oaths as officers of the court. This judge will probably be very skeptical of the motives and methods the FBI used at Mar a Lago. If, as reported, the affidavit presented to the Magistrate could be considered a “general warrant” which is expressly prohibited by the Constitution, the FBI and Justice may find themselves with absolutely nothing usable from the search warrant as things collected would be considered “fruits of the poisonous tree.”

I’m hopeful this judge will take a very hard look at the actions and motives of the FBI and Justice in securing a search warrant to affect retrieval of records covered under the Presidential Records Act, an action unprecedented in the history of the United States.
