The version of “Can you her me knocking” on Sticky Fingers Live from the Fonda Theater in my opinion is the best version of the song.

As much as I like Mick Taylor’s guitar on the studio version, it is the sax that makes the song superb. Bobby Keys, IIRC.

Great quote. I also saw in an interview with him where he said (near-quote), “When Elvis came out, everyone wanted to be like Elvis. But I wanted to be Scotty Moore. [trademark phlegmmy laugh].”
Led to great things.
For those who would have to look this up, Scotty Moore was the guitarist for Elvis from 1954 to 1968.
