Just an observation, with all the people apparently working from home out there, how come the traffic still sucks?

I can speak to that item from a professional perspective:
In major U.S. cities with extensive transit systems, a disproportionate amount of the vehicular traffic on the road falls into two categories:
1. commercial vehicles transporting cargo
2. automobiles driven by workers who need to travel for work during the day

Just an observation, with all the people apparently working from home out there, how come the traffic still sucks? Because people who previously took trains and buses are now driving cars and they're not all going to work. I know a few people who previously commuted by mass transit for up to an hour who now drive in a car for 20 minutes.
