I suggest the sharing with the poor is simply a ruse.
The Collectivists just want power, but they know that they cannot compete with the cream of the crop in the Capitalist (meritocratic) system.
It's like a horse race.
In Capitalism, those who have the most real power are those who are in front--usually at a great distance ahead of the pack.
Collectivism is the mechanism that those Also-Rans in the pack--a great distance behind the leaders--employ to wrest power (and glory and wealth) from the winners.
And who are the Also-Rans, the members of the fair-to-middling pack, in America?
They are the bureaucrats, the politicians, the connivers, the schemers, the flim-flam men, the carnival barkers...
You will find them in Congress, the Deep State, schools and universities, and labor unions.
