If you were Comrade Xi and duly noted the performance of the Russian army what would you be more likely to do? Would you attack a well defended Taiwan across 90 miles of open ocean? Or would you be wondering if all those locally produced ships ,planes and huge army of China, though combat untested, have the ability to seize Russia’s rich, underpopulated Far Eastern Asian Pacific territories and the treasure house of Siberia.
Suspect if Russia did not have nuclear weapons, it would be much smaller.

More than one prognosticator has opined that Russia is pulling back in order to use nukes or fuel air bombs.
Made sense at first but their troops have pulled back 50+ miles, if these tales can be believed. Seems like a strange tactic.
Russia without nukes is not using rubles anymore, and may not be speaking much Russian as an official language.
And many fiction books have included China actively taking Siberia, instead of just a passive encouragement of “refugees” and foreign guest workers in Siberian towns.
The Ukrainians have been entrenched near the airport since 2015. The separatists never captured the control tower so the airport hasn’t been functional.

It seems YOU are the one who needs to look at a map. This has nothing to do with the Uke offensive in Kharkiv Oblast. Ukraine forces have been on the outskirts of Donetsk city since the day Russia invaded. To great embarrassment, Russia has been unable to push them back from the capital city of the so called DPR, leaving the entire city in Uke artillery range. The airport is at the very edge of Russian controlled territory and a raid there would be no surprise to anyone. That doesn't mean it happened.
It is hard to say what’s going on except that Ukraine is mounting major offensive.
Russians are trying to spin it and probably do not know what’s going on anyway.

All what is sure, there are major surprise attacks in many places and the Russians are on the run.

History has shown that when a country ostensibly at peace commits a huge amount of capital ( as China has done) building up its armed forces, actual war almost always soon follows. The question is: Who is China likely to fight and to what purpose?
