I don’t know Marsha Hunt, but I do love the 30s and 40s and 50s radio and television shows, especially the thrillers and comedies. Olivia De Haviland was the most recent old-timer to have crossed that mortal threshold. I can’t think of any others that are still around.

She was a sweet gentle woman. Loved her in the adaptation of William Saroyan's The Human Comedy. It won the Academy Award for Best Story in 1943.

The Human Comedy comes around on TCM from time to time. It depicts small town life in a rural setting, a life and a time gone by. RIP Marsha. Also in it are Frank Morgan and young Mickey Rooney. Highly recommended.

Sounds like a typical Hollywood airhead affixing herself to every cause that comes down the pike.

Anyone who insists today that showbiz isn't overwhelmingly infested with Marxists and Maoists is delusional...or a fellow traveler. But I don't know enough about showbiz types of the 1930s/1940s/1950s to know whether the same was true back then.

So the pattern of three famous deaths has been observed. Gorby, Lizzy and Marsha all croaked in rapid succession.

She has quite the filmography - working through her 80s right up to 2008, when she was 91.

So, the low IQ, low T media remembers the mid century blacklist, but “I know nothing” for today’s blacklist, eh.
One of N reasons the media has almost as low a respect as does congress, where N is a very large number.

For all the (fake) outrage through the years by various ‘actors’, McCarthy was 100% right. I believe he’s been vindicated. Note: I can’t attest to anything else about him except for his hatred of communists and these so-called trials (inquiries).

That is so weird. I just was at her IMFB page a few days ago when looking up the oldest living actors.

Not just Communists. They were beholden to the Soviet Union, constantly making excuses for them. They denied the gulags existed even after the evidence came out about them. They operated much like the pro-Nazis in the US before WW2.

Heard that Will Geer was a communist until he learned their stand on homosexuality.

I understand protesting the Un-American Affairs Committee - that right there is an unconstitutional mess if I’ve ever learned of one (I wasn’t born yet for it), as association is a freedom afforded to us by the First Amendment.

I dislike Commies as much as the next proper American, but that McCarthyist period was just as screwed up as things are now with the Republican with hunts conducted by the [deep] state, corporatists and Big Tech working together. Our ability to associate, operate businesses and speak our minds are actively being hindered, just as it was for people then, and while I will never re-align my political beliefs on a large scale, I still accept a person’s right to speak their mind and believe as they see fit.

Once we get past polite politics though, and into violence towards a group, that’s a line I consider unacceptable.

I enjoyed this actress professionally, but she did not garner my admiration politically. I knew how old she was and wondered how much longer she had. I wish her peace.

“Witness,” by Whittaker Chambers, published in 1952, ia a beautifully written memoir, which is truly must read for anyone interested in the details of Communist infiltration in the U.S., going way back to the first half of the 20th century. One can also choose an audio version. This is primary source documentation for anyone who wants to understand how the Communist agenda became infused into Western society at the highest levels. Readily available new and used on Ebay, Amazon and from libraries.
