There's a fantastic message in the announcement for its dual meaning to all Americans at this time of turmoil. There are no words, so here are the matching lyrics to the anthem that played in the official announcement:

Platinum Jubilee. 70 is the new 50, so consider the full verse from the Liberty Bell, the place of the "Soul of the Nation" speech:

David [דוד] = 14, one stone (14 lb.). In common British usage, the larger unit for stating weights; e.g. of people. 10 stone, 7 lbs versus 147 lbs.

This is also the year (83) of its last letter (83: gimel, גימל). The letter gimel is associated with giving, as the rich man chasing after the poor man (the letter dalet) to give him charity.
Or as in the rules for playing the Dreidel game, the gimel landing face up (representing the word great, gadol) means that
the player gets everything in the pot.

There's so much Jewish commenary about reaching 50, that it's God who grants the crossover from 49 to 50. Aloha, Shalom.
But nothing of note about going from 69 to 70. Then again, how about all of those souls? Big mystery in Genesis 46, how the numbers don't add up. Lots of speeches, theories. Who was the 70th? Osnat, Serach...?
Here's one example. (An entire generation had only known the 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.)
But on the basic principle, "plus the kolel", just add 1, the Kolel. Who would even think to look there, to make it all click?!
